Rock creature that looks like he is jumping into your screen. Blue background, orange character with blue shorts and rock pieces falling off of him.

Our customers start by sending us a photo to use as the base line for their project design. A vector file is the best image we can get, but we will work with other file types to get started.

Stacey does all of the design work in house. She is able to create every detail and add design improvements to give the customer what they are looking for. She does research on ideas, colors, etc. until it’s perfect.

She creates the vector file and puts into our laser software. From there, she breaks the file down into layers that give the final product the depth and dimension she envisions.

A CO2 laser getting ready to cut a 1/2" ultralight sheet of MDF

We start with high quality MDF. In this case, we are using 1/2” ultralight MDF for the backer of the sign so it provides a stable base to build from. We use 1/4” MDF for the layering.

The CO2 laser has scored guidelines into the surface and cut out the shape of the sign.

We program the laser to score guidelines into the surface of the MDF and then it cuts out the shape of the sign for the backer. For 1/4”, it will cut out the individual pieces that we need to build the sign.

The 1/2" MDF after it has been scored, sanded, and cut. It is now ready for layering.

The 1/2” backer is cut out with scored guidelines for placement of pieces that will be on the next layer. It is sanded smooth on the top, bottom, and all sides. The backer is now ready for primer.

Once the backer is cut, we shift focus to building the sign layers. Here, we create the back piece for all of the pieces to sit on. This allows us to give the sign depth. We shift from 1/2” MDF to 1/4” MDF for this process. We achieve the depth and detail we are looking for by design techniques.

The first layer of 1/4” is scored and cut to size.
